We are in the midst of unprecedented times. The past few years children’s voices have been getting louder & stronger when expressing their concerns about the many crises facing our world today - the one that will be handed over into their care one day.
Awareness of global threats such as climate change and the pandemic create emotional stress for many youth, particularly the ones that haven’t had the opportunity to express themselves in some way.
Since 2020 has become the year that uncertainty is the norm, we would like to remind all adults that children are also going through their own fears and uncertainty, most often in silence. It is unsettling to see loved ones who are very sick, experience indefinite interruption to their daily school life, and observe parents struggling under financial stress.
This year in 2020, NCDUK would like to provide a safe & welcoming platform to allow all children to express themselves…to share with the world what is on their mind & in their hearts, and the small steps that we can all take to make a better world. We have some great ideas for sharing in our IDEAS page, but any sort of creative work is welcome. This includes individually-produced works of art, photographs, articles, songs, dances, music and videos - all of which express their unique perspective on the world we’re now living in.
The NCDUK Children's Voice site will provide a platform to publicly share these creative expressions, and we hope that adults take the time to reflect on the world through the eyes of their children. May this be a special day that we communicate together and respect all voices…no matter how small.
